OUR STORY

We wanted to be proactive.
We were always reacting.

Every recruiting family figures out the same thing eventually: a school can say a lot and mean nothing. A school can say nothing and mean everything.

If your son or daughter is serious about playing college baseball or softball, you already know how hard it is to see where you actually stand. Which schools are worth pursuing? When do you reach out — and when do you back off? Is this coach genuinely interested, or just collecting names?

We found ourselves waiting on coaches, waiting on rankings, waiting on someone else to tell us what to do next. We wanted a plan we could own. With the intelligence to back it up.

I remember sitting with another baseball dad, comparing notes — realizing we were both doing the same thing in spreadsheets, trying to make sense of the same mess. We needed something better.

So I built it.

Our family started in August, coming into my son's sophomore year. The thinking was simple: if schools don't know he exists, it doesn't matter how good he gets. So we started reaching out — updates every four to six weeks, more often when there was something worth saying.

We learned fast what coaches actually responded to. Not general interest emails. Velocity jumps. Lifting numbers. And something we didn't expect: that my son plays multiple sports. Baseball culture tends to push early specialization — which isn't necessarily wrong — but schools responded to it positively. It was one more signal we wouldn't have known to track if we weren't paying attention.

Grades matter just as much. At a camp, we learned fast: programs have academic floors, and if you're below them, the coach better really love your baseball. One program told us their most important recruiting event isn't a showcase — it's their academic camp. We realized we needed to track academic fit alongside athletic fit — because admissions can close a door a coach just opened.

The signal progression took time. Early on there were unsubscribes — which told us something too. Then personal notes started coming back instead of silence. Then schools that wouldn't have made the drive started showing up to watch.

Here's what we learned: My son had to perform — on the field and in the classroom. That part was his. The plan's job was to make sure the right people were watching when he did.

We also found club coaches who believed in him and were willing to make calls on his behalf — the kind of advocates who know how to close the last mile of a relationship a family can't close alone.

That's the recruiting process in real time. That's what Projectable Recruit was built to track.

I'm still doing it. Intentionally navigating every friction point before our families run into them — because the only way to build something real is to use it for real.

The intelligence to own your process.

We built a rules engine that knows the difference. Not based on what schools say — based on what they do. When a school shows up in person, the board notices. When interest aligns with fit, the Composite Score moves. You see it before you feel it.

Serious recruiting used to mean paying someone else to manage it — or drowning in spreadsheets trying to do it yourself. Either way, you were depending on someone else to tell you where you stood.

Projectable Recruit™ gives families the tools to do it right, without handing the wheel over. Stay in control of your process.

The athlete owns their story. You own the plan.

Nobody knows their kid better than you do — what they're great at, what they need to improve, where they fit. You just needed the tools to act on it.
